EBV RQ Kit
Quantitative Detection of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA
Human Herpesvirus 4 (HHV-4) known as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a double-stranded DNA virus and a member of Herpesviridae family. Infection occurs mostly in early childhood and without clinical symptoms. However, infection in teens and young aldults may cause infectious mononulceosis. The primary infection is followed by the life long latent infection and about 90% of adult population are infected with this virus. EBV has also been linked to a variety of cancers including lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. It also can be reactivated in immunocompromised hosts, after transplantation or following therapy in cancer patients leading to lymphoproliferative disorders. Therefore, viral load monitoring is important in these patients.
EBV RQ kit provides a ready-to-use Real-Time PCR system for detection and quantitation of Epstein barr virus with Rotor-Gene or StepOne machines.
