HSV RQ Kit
Quantitative Detection of Herpes Simplex Virus DNA
Human Herpes Virus type 1 and 2 (HHV-1, HHV-2) known as Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2) are large enveloped DNA viruses with a genome of about 150 kbp double stranded DNA. HSV is a ubiquitous agent and can cause a variety of infections which in adults are usually benign. Following active infection, it establishes a latent infection in the sensory and autonomic ganglia of the nervous system. It can be reactivated with several potential triggers like stress. If reactivated, retrograde transmission of the virus from the peripheral site to CNS along nerve axon can result in CNS infection which makes HSV the most common cause of viral encephalitis. In such cases, prompt laboratory diagnosis of HSV infection is essential for patient management and possible initiation of antiviral therapy and reducing the mortality rate. Quantitative PCR assays can estimate the extent of viral replication in CNS and would be helpful as a prognostic marker and in monitoring antiviral effects.
HSV 1/2 RQ kit provides a ready-to-use Real-Time PCR system for detection and quantitation of HSV-1 and HSV-2 with Rotor-Gene or StepOne machines.
Ready to Use
The HSV Mix contains all necessary reagents for Real-Time PCR and is ready to use; no further reagent or mixing is required. Reactions are prepared simply by addition of the mix directly to the tubes followed by the sample DNA. Results can be viewed in Green/FAM channel.
PCR mix contains also specific DNA that is detected by a second probe in Yellow/VIC channel. Internal Control prevents false negative results by PCR inhibition or setup errors.
HSV standards & mix are manufactured in batches, and each series is distributed only after passing Quality Control tests for Specificity, Sensitivity, Accuracy and Precision.
Easy & Quick Setup
kit contains a template file for quick and easy setup of the Real-Time PCR instrument and no need to go through time taking manual setting, also reducing setup errors.
Kit contains HSV Mix, 4 quantitation standards, PCR grade water, manual and a CD with template file.
Kit is available as 24, 48 and 96 reactions of 25µl volume.
